Welcome

Welcome to my blog, a personal interpretation of my journey through ‘The Arts’ and its importance to myself and my future students. My aim is to provide a resource via blogging, not only for myself, but for my fellow students to gain inspiration  and motivation to plan and achieve effective lessons in the key learning area of ‘The Arts’. I intend to do this by accurately recounting on the most beneficial aspects of each tutorial, to which I will then critically reflect and provide a broad range of rich resources to strengthen the core concepts expressed in the tutorial.

As a beginning teacher it is significant to recognise the importance of The Arts in the Australian Primary Curriculum. The past semester has achieved this by broadening my knowledge and opening my eyes to the potential of ‘The Arts’ on its own and in addition to other subject areas.  In the past my views have been misled, viewing this valuable subject area as extra curriculum. This mindset has been developed through my journey as a student. Emphasis was not placed or linked to other KLAs and it was seen as a spare time activity rather than a set in stone, allocated lesson.

Welcome to my recognition and developed through ‘The Arts’.
The following clip “Why Art Education is important” (2010) has further broadened my knowledge on the importance and potential of The Arts.

Layout of Entries:
Entries are divided into the four Creative Arts Strands: Dance, Music, Art and Drama. Each tutorial day is either and overview and critical reflection in one, or is split into an overview and a Critical Reflection.
